How to Fish in Lumberjack's Dynasty

Fishing is the rest activity that still pays. It feeds the cooking loop, the cat, and the Fisherman / Master fisherman achievements (50 / 500 catches). It is not a replacement for dry oak pallets. It is what you do while wood sits in the mill for ten in-game days. Pair this page with Getting Started for the mayor quest and with skills for the fishing rank.

How you get the first rod

Auntie mentions a suspicious man. That chain is Mayor Ryan in the north-east: rescue him, talk to Abigail, collect the fishing rod. The 2025 video above is a short rod pickup, not a map tour. If you skip the mayor because the marker looks optional, you skip a free tool and a skill unlock. Shops later sell a trolling spoon rod for predator fish. Buy it when you start hunting perch and pike; carp on rare spots is slower to hook but needs less of a minigame.

Engineer’s Sight is the HUD here too. Rare spots light up when you are close. Ordinary water still works for common fish. Do not stand in a rare ring with the starter rod and wonder why pike ignore you.

Rare fish and prices

Community boards from the 1.0 era logged three level-2 rares:

• Perch — about 14.08 Euro
• Pike — about 14.40 Euro
• Carp — about 17.60 Euro

Carp pays a bit more and is easier to land. Perch and pike want the trolling spoon and a short pre-hook minigame. Level-3 fishing exists as a later skill; this page does not invent spots that guides never published. If your board disagrees, your board wins.

Cook the catch. Raw sales are snacks. Dishes from the fish cookbook are the point, same as eggs and mushrooms on cooking. Feed leftover fish to the cat if you bought one to keep rats out of storage.

Ten level-2 spots (community map)

These are player-found rings, not an official Toplitz atlas. Use your character marker, not someone else’s cursor.

Carp (four):

1. Bottom-right of the map, south-east of the lumber mill.
2. South of Jack’s General Store, east of the lumber selling zone.
3. Just above the furniture factory.
4. Under the northern bridge near the Chef of Chefs quest.

Perch (four):

1. Map centre, near the hotel you can repair for food.
2. A little north-west of that hotel, north of the store.
3. Just south of Jack’s General Store, north of carp spot 2.
4. Further south from carp spot 2, in the water choke point.

Pike (two):

1. Left end of the small island south of the lumber selling zone.
2. Slightly south-west of the furniture store.

Walk the map with Sight on. If a ring moved after a 2023 water-surface patch, trust what you see, not a 2021 screenshot.

How a session should look

1. Start a mill dry cycle (mill profits).
2. Drive to two rare rings, not ten. Time is still Euro.
3. Sight, cast, land, bag.
4. Cook at home. Sell dishes. Sleep once.
5. Check the dryer.

Master fisherman is a grind. Fifty fish is a week of mill waits. Five hundred is a project. Do not skip logging to live on pike. Oak still pays the uncle.

Gear and bugs

Trolling spoon rod sits in tool shops after the furniture-era content. Treasure chests can also drop a spare rod; that is luck, not a plan. See achievements for Treasure hunter.

Console water and banks are meaner. Players report getting stuck swimming. Keep a save before a long swim. Console release covers the rest of that pain. The May 2023 1.09.1 patch improved water reflections and waves; it did not add new fish species.

Fishing is optional. It is also the nicest way to spend a dry day that is not another nail-gun roof. Get the rod, Sight the rings, cook what you land, then go back to legal trunks.
